Thermometer Versus Thermostat
There are two types of people in this world: thermometer people and thermostat people. And the type of person you are will make all the difference as far as what kind of experience you have in this life. What’s the difference between a thermometer and a thermostat?
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
A thermometer tells you the temperature in the room.
A thermostat tells the room the temperature.
The kind of person who goes through life as a thermometer... However their environment is treating them, they will react in kind; and their emotional state, whether they’re happy or not, will be a direct reflection of everything that’s coming at them from outside of them.
The thermostat person is the one who wakes up and sets their setting on joy and gratitude and emanates that to the environment around them.
If you’re a thermometer, you are doomed to be reactive. You don’t even get to choose whether you have a good day. How strangers treat you can determine whether you have a good day or not. Over time, those good or bad days add up, shaping either a good life or a bad life. You were never in control of it. It was just the way life treated you. You were completely passive. You were a victim.
A thermostat mindset means choosing to have a good life and a good day, no matter the circumstances. It’s about recognizing that you can always be productive, serve others, and do something meaningful for someone else. By doing this, you create good days that add up to a good life.
