Director of Student Ministries
REPORTS TO: Campus Pastor (Menlo Park Campus)
Position Summary:
The Director of Student Ministries will lead Middle School and High School Ministries at the Menlo Park campus as part of Menlo’s mission of “Bringing hope to everyone by living out our identity in Christ every day.” The Director of Student Ministries, as a key part of our Campus and NextGen staff teams, will lead weekly Student Ministry gatherings and events, with a special focus on recruiting, training, shepherding, and developing adult volunteers and student leaders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work as a cohesive unit with our Menlo Park campus team.
Gather high capacity volunteers and equip them for ministry with the next generation of students. Lead, encourage, and develop volunteers through 1:1 or group interactions.
Shape and oversee weekly middle and high school gatherings.
Partner with the Central NextGen team and other campus Student Ministry Directors for mutual support and to implement a strategy to launch middle and high school students into a lifetime of faith in Jesus Christ.
Partner with parents in the spiritual development of their students.
Shepherd and develop student leaders.
Oversee Student Ministry Life Groups that are led by adult volunteers.
As directed by the Campus Pastor, work with the Menlo Park campus staff to plan and execute various campus-wide events and services to reach our community.
Be responsible for the safety of all students. Work with the Campus Administrator to ensure that volunteer leaders are screened, participate in mandated training, and maintain appropriate boundaries.
Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and effectively delegate.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships among Menlo Church staff and volunteers.
Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Campus Pastor, Menlo Park.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
College degree
Minimum 2-years’ experience leading a youth ministry
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience overseeing and developing both staff and lay leaders in ministry
Experience working in a church with multiple locations
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to recruit, develop, identify, and multiply high-capacity volunteers
Experience working with people from different cultures
Strong theological foundation
Knowledgeable about student/youth ministry best practices
Strong written and spoken communication skills
Enthusiastic and high-energy leadership style
High Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
Team player and team builder with a focus on the vision of the whole church
Proficiency with common office applications and collaboration tools including Google Workspace, Planning Center, Asana, and others; comfortable learning new technology, software, and applications
Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups
