High School Minister (Waxahachie Campus)
High School Minister will lead the ministry that serves students in grades 9-12 at the Waxahachie Campus. This position will plan and execute all High School (HS) specific activities, including weekly worship, small groups, events, discipleship, camps, and retreats. They will work closely with the entire student ministry team to reach these goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work with the team, including worship and production volunteers, to coordinate HS Night
Work with the team to coordinate HS Student Events
Choose and prepare the curriculum for HS
Coordinate HS students' small group leaders, schedules, and locations
Recruit & train adult volunteers to serve HS for Worship, Small Groups & Events
Ensure that all adult volunteers for HS have current background checks and ongoing training opportunities
Ongoing volunteer appreciation
Budgeting
Partner with local school districts as requested (Character Coaching/Community Partners)
Manage first-time guest experience and guest services for HS Night
Available during Weekend Experiences to talk with students and parents, as well as hosting when needed
Counsel with HS students as requested
Communicate with the creative team to ensure all social media needs, graphics, videos, pictures & slides are requested in a timely manner
Attend HS student activities (games, performances, and awards ceremonies)
Coordinate with the family ministry team for family ministry events and trainings
Support HS students and their families in the event of tragedy or crisis
Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Some College
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Seminary studies preferred
4+ years of experience serving and/or working within a student ministry required
Knowledge and Skills:
Competency in working with teens
Volunteer recruitment and retention
Ability and desire to teach from the Bible at a level that appeals to HS students
Written and verbal communication with a wide variety of people, including parents, volunteers, and students
Technological competence
Spiritual Requirements:
Believe and support the doctrine and vision of The Avenue Church.
